Can anyone tell me aprox how many backlinks to get on front page of Google for the exact keyword = Gulfport Ms Homes For Sale (anchor text)

How many of each Google PR?
PR4+= 25 links???

The website i am trying to rank for currently has PR0

You want to run a competitor backlink analysis check on the pages that are currently ranking in those top 10 positions.

Find out how many links they've got pointing to those PAGES not the site domain as a whole, and try to work it out from there, but even still there's so many other factors that come into play such as how well trusted the actual main domain itself is... which for example in your case Homes.com which is taking the top spot is a very well trusted domain so your going to have your work cut out

There are too many factors besides just the number of backlinks so don't put all your effort into doing that. I agree with others too - quality is better than quantity.

Concentrate on quality content first. And any back links should be as highly relevant to your site as possible as possible.
I see page one sites with only 3 to 6 back links for many key words.

 

Only one way to find out, isn't there! Since it is a geo-targeted term it shouldn't be too bad. I like the link wheel idea as well. Create a blog about that term, point some links to it, then point links from that blog to your site. Consistency is key though, you have to "put in" to the web community to receive.

 

Quality content is definitely key, if you have a lot of it..people wil be linking to you in no time.

 

Apto is right, content is definitely key but in my mind misunderstood. Content can mean anything that provides a good user experience, not just words written on a page. Remember to provide anything that would cause your visitor to stay on that page and enjoy their experience. Focus on a low bounce rate as an indicator of whether or not this is happening.
