I have a brand new website that just launched and i currently have 102 backlinks which i know is not a lot. How many backlinks would i need to start climbing in to the top 10 on keywords related to my website? Im submitting to directories and doing Social Bookmarkings also
I dont know exactly which keywords. I just checked a site that lets you check your backlinks and it said 102 in total.
Depends of so many parameters: your niche, the competition (and their back links), the quality of those links, the age of your site and of the links etc. Difficult to put up a single number just like that. By the way a huge increase in back links in a short period of time especially for a new site may raise red flags and actually help drop your rankings.
So if you get a large number of backlinks in a short period of time for a new website,Google will drop your rankings. I didnt know that. What if they are quality backlinks?
It depends on keyword's competition...some time i get my site top by just 10 backlinks and some having more than 500 but not come at top....
Totally agree, it depends on the competition of keywords and also geographical area. If you do you SEO for some country with less competition, backlink may not need at all. I have seen many websiteswith 0 backlink in the 1st place in Google search.
quality backlinks. that's what you need. if you can get PR6-7-8 link to your website you're going to be up in search results. else, it really depends on your competition. don't expect to get even close to 5th page for "Sport news" or something like that.
If you want to be in the top 10 for your keyword then you have to look at who is currently number 10 for that keyword. Analyse that site and you have somewhere to start.
It depends on the keywords you target. Try GnoZtiK (-http://www.gnoztik.com) a free seo tool, you should have an idea about your custom keywords.
This is the best way to do it. Analyze the competition and put together a game plan from there. Find out the backlinks of a site in the top 20 (Yahoo site search is a good place to do this) and where relevant, start emailing to find out if you can advertise (buy text links) on that site. Depending on the scope of your niche, you can even get ideas by looking at the backlinks-of-the-backlinks of the top 20 serps.
if you think you can do a great job, you can hunt "BIG" keywords, else, try going on a niche... it's much better.
that's like asking how much money you need to be happy Check how many links top 10 sites for that keyword have and you need about the same ~MG
There is no specific number of backlinks to acquire in order to be in top 10 in SERP. Remember that backlinks is not only the factor for you to have better SERP.
It depends where the backlinks come from. I'd say 102 links from ontopic authority sites would rank you highly whereas you might need 1002 or more links from lesser authority sites
Don't expect to be in top 10 if you have alot of backlinks. As alot of people have said it depends on the competition in your websites niche. Perhaps spend some time researching websites in the top 10 backlinks under your keyword, this may help.
