I thought this would be interesting. Yes I know your PR depends on the PR of the pages linking to your site, but I thought it would be interesting to see if theres any correlation between the number of incoming links, and PR. (For example, if someone had thousand and thousands of incoming links, and PR0, and someone had only very few links, and a very high PR). I guess, if anything, it'll show that people need to concentrate more on the quality of links rather than the quantity of links. So, I'll start. If everyone uses backlinkwatch, that should cancel our a variable. (I've found backlinkwatch gives me the best results for tracking backlinks - I have absolutely no affiliation with it). If you could roughly explain why you have the number of backlinks you do, that would also be good. My site is currently PR3 and has 71841 backlinks. I post on many forums relating to my website's niche (out of general interest, not for marketting), and I also have link exchanges with similar blogs. So, your turn!
1.) around 130k - PR 5 2.) about 3k - PR 5 Which would lead me to the assumption that it can be done with numbers, but quality is the faster way.
Some big numbers so far. Don't forget to mention what kind of strategies you're using to aquire backlinks, may make the thread a bit more useful
http://www.tazgames.com - 124 backlinks - PR 0 (but it's been running for little under a month so that's fine.) http://www.chuckun.co.uk - 514 backlinks - PR 1 (but I only just opened that up 3 days ago, has been a registered domain to me for about 5 years, but abandoned for a year, and had PR 0 untill the moment I installed WordPress.. :S Weird!?) According to this tool and smartpagerank, I have 80,827 backlinks and According to Yahoo I have 82,823.. My site's PR is 3. Hope in next update I will get PR 4..
I have about 6K backlinks and PR is 2. PR depends on the quality of backlinks. Quantity of backlinks are not as important as quality is.
That backlink watch misses many links I have out there. Anyway, here are some stats based on the results from there. A single sales page I have: 1593 links and it is a PR3. A forum we have: 476 links and PR2. A blog we have: 13 links and PR2.
