Yeah well said about dandy its all about quality of backlinks your site is having. Unique content also plays vital role in getting good PR.
All your backlinks must have good PR either, from PR1 to above. If you got just by PR1, its take over 10 and more backlinks!
Yes, but to join in every directory under the sun soon looses it purpose. Try to get businesspartners to link directly to you (with right anchor-text), Relevant forums (i.e. not this one for me as I am a norwegian site ), etc etc. What makes sense to you personally I guess, should also make sense to google.
I don't think that there's a specific number. Maybe a site has 1000 links, all from the same domain, or even from the same page. It's the quality of the links that matters the most. And what do you do with your PR after you obtain it ? I don't think that in our days PR is that important.
Well, I have 4 links from PR 6 sites, and more than 15 links from PR 2 sites..but my PR is 0. Can anyone explain that. It used to be PR 2, when I had only PR 2 links..I paid for PR6 links and after a month when google did the PR update dance, he gave my site PR0. I am still wondering why that happened!
i believe you links have to be relevant to the topic of your site. It is possible that Google detected paid link.
I don't there is a specific number of backlinks to up your PR. I think its the combination of quality and quantity.
Tell me your site's status, means right now Page rank of your site and alexa and visitor per month. I hope I can give you a good suggestion.
I think no one can answer such question. No one knows how many links are needed to get PR1 or PR2 etc. Things depend on quality of backlinks: what is the PR of the page from where you are getting a backlink, how many outbound links are on that page: and many other factors are considered while Google gives a PR to a site.
I think we need to have a separate section on PageRank. There are so many threads on PageRank you would think it was the single most important aspect of a website. It's nowhere close. Hmm...that gives me an idea.
You are right I guess, because the links were from a different niche. But otherwise, my site content is 100% original, clean and well liked by the readers. I guess, I should try buying links from the sites having same niche as mine. Thank you for your suggestion!
don't chase PR. It's not the aim of the game. It kind of says that you don't know what you are doing.
