How many backlinks and PR do I need?

    Hi everyone,

After reading and learning quite a lot in this great forum I got some questions when building backlinks.

I got a site from August 2011, I think the onpage SEO is fine as I'm getting 13rd position at Google for the wanted keywords. Now it's time for the offpage SEO, I know what I need is quality do-follow links from high PR sites.

One of my competitor is ranked on 3rd position with 14,000 backlinks and PR1 whereas another competitor got just 50 backlinks and PR3, this second site neither got even the exactly keywords on the page nor the keywords/metatags/h1...

How many backlinks do you suggest I need and which should be the minimun PR from those sites?

    Thanks!!

Go to my blog 'coconut headphones', and check out the article listed on the right "How to Estimate How Many Links You Need". It has some tables you can use to plan this out.

Sorry, can't post links here yet, not enough posts!

Awesome post and tables, thanks a lot for sharing this.

How to get links from high PR pages? Do you know any site selling these recommended backlinks?

Quality backlinks are more importantant then quantity. Just manually build backlinks everyday, and let your site grow naturally. I spend about 30 mins a day building backlinks by posting on several forums with including a signature link.

There are too many factors which are involved in ranking a website. Its not an exact science.

Keep building quality links to your website and check the movements in your rankings.

Make sure your link building process is natural something like seodestiny etc

Keep on generating quality content on your sites, updated content plays a vital role.

both. no-follow backlinks are useful for SERPs, and do-follow backlinks are useful for SERPs and PR

Tr using majestic seo or seomoz to find out exactly where they got links from and try to get similar links - for good pr links you might also try ALN and other blog networks they usually work well for me to gain pr

Does it mean that having a few (less than 100) backlinks from PR4 blogs will get your site to a PR3 for example?
