I want to know how many back links of my site can I put in my wordpress blog. Is it important to have some external link too to show WP that I am not promoting my site? My blogs have all genuine content and none of them is copied or promotional.
There is no limit to the amount of links you can post. I agree that it can be a good idea to link to some authority sites on your topic to get your site some more respect. It might not skyrocket your rankings but I've found it can have a positive effect. Quality content is the most important factor, and it's always good to link to content you think your readers would genuinely find valuable.
Yes thatz right, there is no such rule that you have to limit your backlinks for any site or blog. However I would also recommend to keep the backlinks and the external links limited to your niche only. If you a are planning to increase the backlinks for your blog, make sure its in your own niche

Since Back link is the basis of Google ranking, so there is lo limit. Just consider it as reputation gain to your site. This is same as our real life, as you don't have any limitation to earn goodwill and social reputation, similarly there is no limitation of getting backlinks. But take care of earning quality backlinks. Never try to dodge Google because is Dad of all Dads and all the wrong efforts will be in vain
