How Many Affiliate Links Should I Put On Each Landing Page?

Does anyone here put more than 1 affiliate link on their landing pages? It seems like it would increase the chances of a click-through.

For example, let's say I am making a page for a niche and use some generic keywords. Could I put 2 different links on that page, each going to a different affiliate company if each company is selling the same basic products? Does this work?

    * Edited to underline the fact that I'm talking about using links from 2 different affiliate companies.

Well, the basic rule of a thumb would be - make sure there is a link visible at any position of scrolling. So the visitor can always say the YES word and click that link. The longer the page - the more links you would use. It is good idea to link also images as they do get clicked by average visitors.
