Anyone here know the maximum number of ad units including text and image ads that can be displayed on a single page?
I guess as many as you can. But beware that doing too many ads on your site will hurt your site in Search Engine.
Are you asking if CJ has a limit? If so, no. But, in my experience, if you want to make money in an affiliate program you need to direct users through very carefully planned channels rather than just through up a bunch of random banners and hope for the best. The more specific you can get with your ads, the better you're going to do. You want content that will appeal to your visitors, and you really want to avoid giving them an opportunity to shop around. If you have, say, an article about a new kind of snowboard jacket, make sure you have a single banner (or maybe two) which point to a site that sells them. If you have a ton of general banners on that page, people are going to be more inclined to shop elsewhere. Maybe they'll visit your REI link to see their prices, but then they'll navigate somewhere else to look for a better price. The chances that a user will come back to your page to find competitive prices for the same product are slim, and you're better off giving them the sense that, while there are a ton of places to buy this-or-that gear, THIS place is the one for YOU. Don't give them a reason to go elsewhere if you don't have to.
I usually try to post only one or two banner ads that are informative and state the main point I am trying to make on the page. Then I add a few text links as well. It's been my experience that more people click on text links than banner ads.
Yeah, text links definitely have a tendency to work better than banners, particularly if you have a site that has a great deal of text.
Combine your text link with small banner 80x33 resolution, that my best setting generates sales, place it on center of footer.
