Doesn't having too many ads 'dilute' the value of the clicks? For example, if on my blog, I have one 336x280 at the top, one 125x125 with the message post wrapped around it, and a skyscraper to the right, that's all three ad blocks allowed. Knowing that higher-paying clicks generally get listed at the top, I would assume that the last ad to show would be the lowest-paid. If I start to mix in Link boxes, a couple of questions come to mind: 1. will that dilute the cpc of the adboxes? 2. does placement of linkboxes 'consume' the higher-rated cpc ads? in other words, if a linkbox (which gets 12% of my clicks) appears above an adbox, do the ads that appear in the adbox have the lower rate? Basically, is there an impact on the cpc of the links vs. the ads. If so, does it make sense (in my case) to remove the links altogether since they are only getting 12% of the clicks and possibly driving down the revenue from the more-frequently-clicked ads?
Heh...that's exactly what I have. I was just curious if the Adblocks were diluting the value of the link boxes. I was considering removing either the one down bottom or both.
not at all, adlink (link boxes) have nothing to do with adsense blocks. I've also read about ads being ordered in the order of block appearing in the html code, but often when you use channels to track each adsense block individually you can see that the average earning per click isn't so clearly ordered. Sometimes you get the third adsense block earning more per click on average, sometimes it's the first one. It would be good to have a clearer break down of stats, like we used to start to get with adlogger.
The theme I picked up for my blog has three ad blocks. Link units on top. A skyscraper on the right side. A square on the bottom. It's not that easy finding good themes. I might have to learn to make them myself.
i have a leaderboard on top , a skyscraper , a square one in after the last post and a link unit just after categories
