How many 301s is too much

What has been working well for some rankings on my forum recently is 301ing a keyword domain to a relevant sub forum on my site. I have now got about 10 domains 301'ed.

Is there a limit to how many you should do? How many domains have you 301'ed to your main site?

I'm asking beacause I could easily buy up another 100 domains and do the same thing?

    Thanks for any advice.

What's the point? Trying to get 100 individual domains to rank is so much harder than getting one domain to rank well. But it's your money, good luck.

I think he is using the advantage of the keywords in domain name. But dont you need to promote the domain names at least a little bit? Can you be more clear?

Apologies. Let me rephrase the question.
Say I go out and buy 50 smaller websites all with the Real Estate sector - all with links and serps. I then want to start 301'ing each site to my larger Real Estate site. Is there a limit to how many sites I should 301?

    Why do you ask?
You mean will Google then remove your site from index?

Theres nothing it will do. You cant be penlized for incoming links. Even if you had 5000 links that are just borderline blackhat?

This is my take, but my advice isnt worth much imho :) (I just read the last statement and realised how ironic it is)

There are a probably hundreds of factors that gets a page ranked. some are on the page others are external factors. redirecting a domain to your site its probably not going to keep the rank it has before because the dynamics of the page and its environment changed.

If you keep buying domains with rank and redirecting them to your site sooner or later the strategy is going to backfire. Why? because it doesn't look natural.
