I've spent the past three/four days learning about AdWords. AdWords you don't make a profit, unless your selling products or have advertisements on there.

Profit from what? the AdWords program, or from the client themselves?

You can make money in business using AdWords as a tool, it just depends on how you use it.

Set it at whatever you want. Perhaps you should ask around to find out what other people charge for this and then set your fee accordingly. Hopefully you can do what you promise you can do for the client though or they'll leave and that'll hurt your future business a bit.

You're still leaving yourself open to a broad answer because you just want 'a profit from AdWords'.

Are you looking to make money off of each click?

Do you want to create a client fee schedule based on the type of campaign you create and run? Does it include set ups fees, hourly fees or monthly/weekly maintenance fees?

Do you want to sell a client's product and charge a percentage of each sale as your fee?

Do you simply want a percentage of their spend for your efforts?

You need to think through your plans and develop your own way of making money. Ask around to other search marketers about their fees or billing and how they keep clients and attract new ones without charging too much or too little.
