How Long will you wait on Auction Ads?

I get about 8000 hits a day. Click-thru rate with AuctionAds is really good, and hasn't affected my AdSense. Over 18 days I made, I think, 2 actions. One day I made $2 and another over $50! I was going to pull the ads until I saw the $50. I target ads to each category on my RSS Feed Directory

18 day stats:
Total 166631 627 0.38 $53.23

Now I'm putting the ads back to see what's really possible!

 

lol " Click-thru rate with AuctionAds is really good" 0.38% ctr is terrible. you might have just got lucky with a sale because 0.38% CTR is terrible.

 

I'd like to know where our earnings went for the period some folks have seen come up $0, $0, $0.

 

I thought about how low my CTR was after posting . Here are my best days:

Aside from this site I'm a stranger to decent traffic, so I'm just fine with 100 clicks/day with no affect on AdSense.

guerilla, keep in mind that this is a pay per action program. One sale can mean $50.

Impressions are still there, but the clicks go to shit due to the targeting issues.

 

And no sales can mean $0. I make more in adsense in 3 days than I do with AA in a month, and with the current targeting issues, I make more by the time my first click comes in.

The irony of all this (and I am being honest) is that I am setting up a ladies handbag site and a Nintendo Wii site. Go figure.

 

to be honest i think the impression AA uses is totally made up. ok i get about 2k-2500 unqiues a day and AA says im getting over 30k impressions. impossible.

 

lol... I guess that makes more sense then adsense 'stealing' my impressions.

I was noticing that the two were not exactly matching.

 

AA Counts the impressions of all adblocks towards total impressions.

 

Is there anybody out there earning anything at the moment? Targeting and clicks seem to be improving since Sunday but my earnings are still $0 $0 $0 $0..... while last month I was doing really ok with AA this month is going to be really crappy.

...and still nothing but silence from AA. Common guys, at least keep the blog up to date.

if that tells you anything ... i am still hoping the 16-19 will have something later coming up ... the impression increase and decrease is just me pissing off and taking the ads on and off lol

 

So you're earning again since the 20th, the day I noticed an improvement in the targeting on my site. Today targeting is dead on again and if I try get code on the AA website, try something weird that's not in the cache, the ads get targeted within 5 secs, just like it used to be.

$0 days are not uncommon for me, and lets not forget the time-delay with auctions, so, on first look, I'd say there back in business again. How are the rest of you guys doing? Or did everybody run off?

 

Yes, earnings dropped dramatically since the 20th with same CTR.

All in all, still the best adsense alternative i ever used on my site. May be due to the video game niche though.

 

Here's my July Stats. The CTR is meaningless as I use the url converter and only have AA on one new site I just built. No reason to waste time putting on all my sites as the ads rarely seem to work properly. Today no stats update which is normally 2 days behind. At least AA didn't go down on Sunday as has been the norm. I haven't worked AA much this month due to all the issues and no support. I'm willing to continue to spend a couple hours a week on it but could do much more if I were certain they were getting it right. I'll continue to play around with it while waiting for the two man operation of AA to get some equipment and support help but I will not spend much time on it. It is very possible AA could close down due to the lack of ability to get it right.

The earnings this month are down due to the outages that is very true. In 15 days last month I made about 200.00 but this month in 24 days 22 days reported I have earned 150.00 The first day this month I have not earned money was the 21st. Yes the outages tend to piss me off. I did switch back to cj for a time on some of my sites but I get about a 7% conversion rate with them as apposed to a 26% conversion rate with AA. I know the last time they had outages they did a bonus to off set the problem maybe they should do it again. It pays for my hosting bill so I'm cool for now. for those having problems switch back to cj and see if there is a diffrence.

 

On one hand, there should be a difference because most in the CJ program will be on the tier that earns 50% of ebay fees. AA pays out 75% I believe.

However, that would not include anything not earned if the AA reporting / cookies have an issue.

You can tell by my join date that I have not been at this long I made my first site at the en of January so, take this fr what it worth, but please do not bash me If I am wrong. Here are a few of the reasons that I feel AA may not be converting for some people.

Joey we I raised some of these on your forum So If you read both skip this and I am sorry.

1. If you have a majority of users that are using fire fox the conversion problem may be that the majority of fire fox users set cookies to clear when the browser is closed. (mine is set this way) So if the bid is not placed directly from the link or right after going through the link you will not convert clicks.

2. If your users are mainly under age 17 they may not be using the same computer as the parents or people doing most of the Ebay purchases in the house. ( most children now have computers in their rooms)

3. The cookies may be blocked by a third party program that asks whether to accept the cookie or not. ( when ever asked this question most older people click do not accept the cookie) This is also used in a lot of work places.

4. Most people have spy bot or the like set to run on Friday night. As the people using this program know the majority of people setup their ebay auctions to end on Sunday. ( Here is an example, I go and place a bid on Thursday and spybot runs Friday and clears the cookie. Saturday I am outbid and I place another bid to still win the auction) since the cookie was not on the computer when the winning bid was placed you get no commission.

5. Are the majority of users looking at your site at work? If so people may be outbid while at home and chose to up their bid at home hence no cookie.

The whole goal I see or I approach this program with is to get the cookie on the computer. Not sell what ever ads are showing on the site most of my ads are set to things under 3.00 so that is not where my money is coming from. I'm sorry for the long post but these are just some things I have figures out in the last coupple days using this program. Let the noob bashing begin.

now wtf is going on here. 393 clicks and $0.00 earned. WHERE IS SHOEMONEY? I WANT ANSWERS!!!

 

Same here, I am baffled. Starting in mid-June, I improved keywords and targeting quite a bit. Numbers were coming up. Also, added quite a few URLs using the link converter. Don't know if the zero dollars can be explained by the keyword targeting problems. Doubt it.
