Hi guys, Ive talked about this a lot, but it's starting to worry me now. From Feb 24th i noticed wild hourly/daily SERP changes on one of my websites. The site had been on page two for three months. Since Feb 24th it's been bouncing three times a day from page 1 - page 2. Then google announce they have a slight algorithm change pushing "Brands" According to matt cutts "It's a very small change" Well it's been three weeks today and my SERPS and other people are still bouncing like crazy daily. Also* all google dance tools have been DOWN since 24th Feb, www2.google.com and www3.google.com still down, why? I woke up Saturday to find my website lose all longtail rankings and go as low as page 9, then to page 3, then to page 1 all in one day. Today i'm back on page 3! What's going on guys?
Exactly, Im still wondering what is going on, my site was on the first page a like 8 keywords, now its like in the 100s and 200s. It went up again, and now down again. Will this dance ever stop? Is it even dancing yet or has my site been penalized im confused.
The sites that are dancing around are the ones that are new and have good SEO applied to them. My pages are all jumping around, and I'm glad. 3rd page to 9th to 50th to 2nd etc.... It's good to see your sites floating around. Would you rather want to dance or stand still? It's common sense. If your sites are doing something that 98% of sites aren't doing, then it's a good sign. With the next update on April 1st or so, you'll be on the first page or pretty close to it.
March has been a crazy month! My sites I dedicated the least amount of time to have been doing the best. Man!
It seems to me that G is recalculating many parameters of the algorithm. Because some of these calculations are circular in nature, G must set those to zero first. Doing so can send a site into oblivion. Then the calculations rerun and the site recovers. To make matters worse, not all data centers are synchronized. So, the changes you see can be changes within one DC or can be different data sets on different DCs. /*tom*/
That is what I thought too. At least I found someone think the same about this update. As you all know, this update is effected on particular keywords/keyphrases and in specific site. Whether the site is old or not. This could be both good/bad sign for sites that ranking fluctuate because it seems your site important role has been changed and your ranking can be jumped in both higher and lower in the end of this dance.
What if it doesn't stop? What if you're seeing results based off your previous searches/time spent on sites rather than 100% based of rankings.
this update and dance is horrible for few of my old websites ... this update gave my sites serps a fall from top 10 position to 50's and 60's ... traffic dropped to half .... very low traffic from Google now ... major traffic is from yahoo and msn now ... major changes going on with Google's algo this update
I see some big changes in SERPs for my sites every day. Sometimes, SERPs changes multiple times in a single day. SERPs changes all the time, but currently, it is dancing too much. That small brands change can be the reason.
I have also notice some changes over my SERP. Yesterday some of my inner pages showing Pr2 but today again 0 . I think some major algo has changed.
Losing search position is just usual. Your competition certainly optimize the sites. However unstable PR can be very indicative !!! Are you sure that it was PR2 yesterday? Very often we see only cached info.
