hi i have already purchased a domain in godaddy. And until now when I type the domain in my browser it haven't appear yet. It's been more than 48 hours now.Does anyone have experienced this?
Normally when I register at Godaddy my domain shows the parked page within minutes after buying it. Did you change your Name servers?
Do you see a parked page? Did you change the nameservers? Do you have the website hosted? Otherwise, it can take up to 72 hours for the DNS to propagate. Edit: Marcus is fast.
Yes I do have website hosted. OMG 72 hours...this will give me set back.. Is this really true the 72 hours?
I've had it apear within 5 minutes of registering a domain, so it really depends on your DNS's TTL (time to live) setting and then you will see your domain.
The registration of the domain tooks only minutes. What Im asking is how long will it took when you point the domain to your site in the host? Sorry newbie question about godaddy.
As I just explained, it could be 5 minutes or it could be 72 hours. It depends on your DNS's TTL settings.
If you really want to speed things up, just use a local host entry and change the hosts file in system32/hosts and set your domain that way. otherwise you can just wait the time until your DNS updates.
May I know how you will know if the domain is in process of pointing to the site? Or you just have to wait?(does it make sense?)
It varies for everyone because nearly all the DNS servers of the world have different TTLs. My DNS server will often update every 20 minutes. For the name servers that I run, I run them at 14400 seconds. It just depends on your DNS server really -- it's never the same unless everyone in the world used the same DNS server (*Caught 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.3, 4.2.2.4 *caught*)
currently most registrar services apply the DNS changes immediately but it might take up to 72 hours to fully propagate throughout the internet. Furthermore, depending on your actual location propagation might take longer for you. In such case you can see it earlier using a service like www.secure-tunnel.com or any other free proxy service. Additonally, at Godaddy there is an option called Total DNS Control, which settings sometimes are required in order to get displayed a domain (i.e. German domains) and... sounds odd but is happening to me: I have some sites hosted on servers located on CST and I cannnot see my sites at some hours of the day... except via proxy servers :/ why?.... nobody can't explain it
OMG..Maybe I have to wait for another 24 hours to see if my site will appear now.. Thanks for all the replies. It really enlightened me.cheers!
