How long will it take to transfer to a different host?

I've been with VampHost for a little over a week now so far I've been experiencing downtime every day. It's frustrating as the blog I run deals with time-sensitive info. Can anyone tell me how long will the process of switching to a different host will take? Thanks

If you choose OxyHosts.com we can help transfer with zero downtime :)
We have already transferred 2 of our clients from DP and they are impressed with our services.

It may depend on VampHost. If they are slow, they may take a couple of days to get your name servers changed. Shouldn't be down during that time, though, as long as you have your new hosting setup with all your files copied over.

    Hello ;)

Torxhost.com can help you here to, with long experience inside webhosting business then we can assure you that we can move your site to our servers with 0 downtime!

The process of this can take up to 4 days before everything is 100% completed and ok.. The main reason for this is DNS changes and A changes. Most of the time is mainly waiting time without doing something.

    Freddy,
    torxhost

It wont take anytime if you wish to switch your host. All you need to is keep the backup of data that you want to upload. You can upload that data on new hosting package after you get the login details. You wont face any downtime.

The new hosting account only takes a couple of minutes.
Your website files depend on how much content is included in your website files.
And the transfer of your domains could be anywhere from a couple of minutes to 24 hours. You would need to unlock the domain at your current host and get the transfer codes (this only applies if you are actually using the nameservers at the host you want to switch from, if not, the transfer would be even faster since you would only need to change the nameserver address where your domains are actually hosted.)

Check out our hosting deals, if where to open an account with us and open a technical support ticket, we will help you in the process.

To be honest, it depends upon the hosting provider. If they are good enough. It should be done as soon as possible without any further delay to avoid any interruption of the services.

A hosting company should always aim for performance and quality. :)

I don't have a lot of data as my sites have only been up for less than two weeks. I have 1 domain and one addon domain both registered with godaddy. My site consists of 2 blogs with less than 100mb of data. Thanks for the info. folks.

Sorry but how do you blame the hosting company about DNS propagation process when it's all about the ISP ?

    To thread OP.

I'm not sure what do you mean by "the process of switching to a different host"

If you mean site data transfer. then it depends on how big is your data (disk space usage) and speed of the connection on both the old/new server

If you mean DNS propagation/site IP change - it takes anything from few minutes up to 2 days depending on how old is the DNS cache your ISP is serving.

To make sure if it's problem at your end or at the server, try seeing the site through a proxy and see if you can see it online

usually you will get the most recent view of the site through a proxy and avoid DNS cashing issues.

Trying different proxies is recommended as well ;)

Prior to any host change , do be sure to set your DNS TTL for you domain to 300 seconds (or 5 minutes) to insure a speedy change. The default TTL is 86,400 seconds or 8 ours.. Expect 24/48 hours for full propagation, though often, much sooner, especially if you remember to set the TTL to 300 at least 1 week prior.

These days, it shouldn't take that long. Just be sure that you have your domain name registered with a company that handles dns changes well.
