How long will it take to index my sitemap.xml

    Hi
    I want to know how long will it take to index my sitemap urls. My website was indexed before and google statistics said 20 url indexed. After sometime for some reason I've uploaded false formatted sitemap and it seems like it is no longer indexed.

    Before I had visiter 120/day now it is 20/day.

    I've uploadeded the well formed xml file and waiting for 4 weeks still not indexed.

    Any help?

    It probably takes a week or two, thats when i satrted noticing pages indexed anyway

    About a week or so sounds right, it depends on other factors but its definitely quicker to submit a sitemap.

    7-14 days, if its more than this, google would fail with their neighbours :p

    mahacan, you indicated that you've uploaded your sitemap.xml. Have you also submitted it to Google via a free Google Webmaster Tools account? Guaranteed that Google will at least crawl a newly submitted sitemap.xml within hours, not days, if you submit it via Google Webmaster Tools.

    Yea usually my sitemaps get indexed in google webmaster tools in an hour or 2 when i resubmit them

    I usually see my newly-submitted sitemap.xml crawled within hours, or even minutes. But the new pages on it often don't show up visibly in the Google index for days, even sometimes a week or two.

    sitemap.xml is only useful to make the google crawl easily, placing a sitemap wont mean it has to crawl the site immediately, crawling a site is completely based on search engine architecture and indexing methods, wheter it is for google or msn or some thing else, you can do nothing than waiting till the search engine visits your site. no worries

    its usually about a week but your site will be indexed faster depending on your backlinks for example if you have a bunch of links pointing to your site from some high ranked sites like pr7's and 8's then google could index your page everyday...

    he asked when his sitemap would be looked at. Not when his actual site would be indexed. Obviously this takes longer than hours. If you upload a good sitemap and have good content, you should be indexed within a week or so.
