Good luck, because you're going to need it (and a whole lot more) since you're competing against 127,000,000+ other pages that are targeting the Web design keyword, and 10,600,000+ for "websites for sale". As it is, you're not even in the top 100 results for the keyword in Google, much less the to 1,000 (I know, I looked). You are at 103 in Google for the second though, and I don't think you can get to the top 20 in just a week unless you go with a brute force approch that would only keep you there for maybe a few days, or weeks at best.

Now here are a few questions that should make you think. What is the primary purpose of my Web site?

In other words, what is the Web site supposed to do? Forget about the search engines at this point. Pretend they don't exist. What does your site do, and what does it do differently from your competition? Who are your competitors?

I think you'd be better off by targeting a more specific term than "web design".

    I agree with nfd2005.

The term "web design" is ridiculously competitive, maybe concentrate on longer tailed keywords?

I admire your ambition though!! Good luck!!

Not necessarily longer-tail. A different set would work though, which is why I asked the questions I did. :)

Web Design gets 26,000 searches a day and has 208,000,000 competitors

Website Design on the other hand gets 117,824 searches a day and only has 83,600,000 competitors

I did a very quick search for domain names: Heres what I found available

    WEBSITEDESIGN1.NET
    WEBSITEDESIGN1.WS
    WEBSITEDESIGNGO.COM

There are plenty of domains available for this term also

    I agree with Dan.

Forget long tail, look at keyword clusters for maximum effect.

I know the chap is banned but hey.

It may need more link building and time.

you should aim lower with your selected keyword, unless you have a couple million$ to invest in SEO...

Something like "web page design"... it gets like 400 searches/day and there are about 3,000,000 other websites using it...

And if you do a deeper search, you'll find even better options...

    Good luck!!!
