Ok i started a new website 2 months ago but started adding content on it since October 1st. It has copyscape protected unique posts for small to medium scale business related to marketing, advertising, outsourcing, etc. How long will it take for the site to get indexed by google, yahoo and bing (I have already submitted the site to them) and get some traffic?

It could take 1 day or you might never see traffic.... It all depends on how competitive the keywords you are targeting are. If you are targeting a high quality keyword like "marketing" you will never get traffic for that keyword. If you target the long tail keywords like "how to make money by internet marketing" then you MIGHT have a chance of getting indexed by google. With my blog I started getting google traffic for long tail keywords within a week or so. You need to build quality links to the keywords you are targeting, you need to put the keywords you are targeting in your titles, and you need the right keyword density on your website. Use some keyword research tools online to find keywords that you have a chance of getting some traffic for, and start building links to your website.

You might see some traffic come in soon or it might take a few months, it really depends on how often you update your site, how many back links you have, your SEO ability, keyword research, keyword density and many other small factors. The key is to keep pumping as much information as possible onto your site so you can increase your chances of getting indexed sooner by the search engines.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks for all the info, but i am using Wordpress for the website. I have added all useful plugins to it. But you know in google webmaster central we can submit our website sitemap to it? Same goes with other search engines, so how should i create a sitemap for wordpress website? Is there any plugin that can create xml sitemap for wordpress, for submitting it to these search engines?

The key to generating traffic is creating great content and backlinks. Article marketing is a great way to generate backlinks. It is also key to promote your promotions. Meaning that you can bookmark the links on all your submitted articles or create an rss feed from your article links and submit them to rss feeds.

It depends on niche, product/service, your website's deisgn, website's optimization and of course SEO. If your website isn't on the first page of search engines, don't expect to get a flood of traffic. Be useful, be interesting and you'll succeed.

Ok, but i don't understand what role does designing play in SE traffic, because designing is something that is visual right, look and feel thing? I mean appearance, or do you mean the coding part of it like html and css validation?

As you told that your site is powered by WORDPRESS then it is very easy to get indexed in many search engines. you just need to get back links from High Page Ranked websites.

3 -4 months I reckon, you need to keep up the momentum on adding good quality content as well as doing good SEO.

It really depends on how you optimize your website, recommend getting a domain with age (at least 2 years) with a organized website structure, then your website probably can get rank pretty well. :)

I have a well optimized browser based games review blog which has only been out for less then a month. I have already received a fair amount of traffic through Google as I did a bit of backlink generating and such. It all depends on the site and your marketing skill.

yes there is a plugin for wordpress that does xml sitemaps. Just use your plugin page and "add new" and do a search for one that's highly ranked. Assuming you have analytics you must be verified with google. Once you have done the sitemap just go to analytics and submit it and google will index that almost instantly. My experience is within 2 minutes these days. You can also add the following list of ping sites to wordpress that will get your blog pinged by blog aggregators that are crawled frequently and start some backlinking that will benefit your rankings and help the search engines find you. Place it into the box under:

Settings/writing/update services. Just paste this in and everytime you post these services will be automatically pinged and update their content from your site.

    HI CSR,

If you lack traffic, I would start posting small comments/advices on several do follow blogs on your niche topic.

This should get you some quick traffic and some good backlinks.

Try to think in diversity, when getting traffic.

    A) Blogscommenting
    B) Youtube
    C) Classified ads
    D) PPC
    E) Traffic services
    F) Articles

List your alternatives, test them and pick two or three traffic sources - to establish more traffic.

    regards, LASSE
