How long will I be sandboxed?

My site has been up and running for a few months now(almost 3) and it seems that I am still in the "sandbox" playing.

I'm getting organics from a few of the search engines and some from googs.

How long does it usually take for a new site to climb out of the sanbox and get a page rank? I missed the last PR update so my page is still unranked.

The sandbox affects new sites by not factoring in your backlinks when google calculates SERPS (backlinks will show and PR will pass during this time). It only applies to competitive keywords and doesn't automatically mean you can't rank, but without backlinks being factored in, it makes it very hard. It can last from 3 months to a year or so. Of course getting out of the sandbox doesn't mean you are going to rank well.

You'll have to wait until the next PR toolbar update - and no one can tell you when that is, but around 3 months would be a guess. PR is determined 100% by backlinks, so work on getting links from relevant sector sites. Google counts the backlinks when they find them, PR just isn't shown on the toolbar until they update. Toolbar PR is always a look at the past and by the time you see an update, any benefit has already been factored in.

Well, it takes as long as it takes :p

You can use the live PR tool that shows the actual PR of your site pages. You can find the tool here http://livepr.raketforskning.com/

p.s. maybe your site has a pr after all :)

A website could stay in the sandbox for 3 months to 2 years
from my experience it's usually around 6 months

Sometimes forever. I have had sites that were never able to rank well for any meaningful keywords despite being years old and haing many inbound links and decent PR.

I don't know if it is the sandbox or not. There is a degree of randomness in that some sites will rank better than others with all else being equal.

If you ask 100 different people about this you'll get 100 different answers........or maybe just 45!

Anyway the general consensus seems to be that the more relevant backlinks you can amass for your site the shorter your spell will be in the Sandbox.

Unless your site has more links than the sites that are already ranking its not sandboxed - its just not ranking.

also consider the competitiveness of your keywords, link is also a big factor that will help you to get out on sandbox asap.

Playing in the sandbox all by yourself is no fun.

as already posted, nobody knows the exact answer - but it seems that relevent backlinks (from high PR sites) have a lot to do with it. from my experience i *think* that getting a lot of clicks via SERP pages also helps - the problem is that if you're in the sandbox, nobody will see you in the SERP to click! - it takes some very creative promotion to make that happen.

you've got to get out there and promte your site, solict those backlinks, and try not to rely on Google for your traffic (although that is difficult!). When i first started buiding my internet empire, promotion and backlink building was the 2nd biggest part of the job after creating unique content..

so.. the answer to your question, "How long will i be sandboxed": It depends

Some say up to 2 years. Read http://www.jimboykin.com/google-filters/

I agree with Jim in the fact there is no box to be in and out of. There are only filters and the older and more trusted your domain, the easier the filters are to get past. So you may be old enough to get around a few filters, but not all.

time of sandbox depents on you and your site category.

if you find many links for your site , this will decrease your sandbox time

and you must update your site daily .this is one of the important point

you are not automatically released from the sandbox. you can be in it indefinitely. I've sites that're 2.5 years old that are still sandboxed.

do yourself a favor and buy an old domain and move your content there.
