How long will Google keep a cache file?

    Hello, Merry Xmas,
I have a few questions regarding the cache files of Google:

    1. How long will Google keep a cached website?
    2. Who can remove the cache except Google
    3. Is it owner related (can I ask Google to remove a cache from a site which does not belong to me)?
    Thanks:)

I have noticed that pages which are well linked to are tough to get out of cache and supplementary results!

Yeah they seem to last for ever, I'm just waiting for that day that they disappear, but it will probably never come without some action :p

cache time depents on your site . if you have good web site , google will come and grap new cache for your site .

and about the removing your page cache , you must be the site owner for removing the cache of a web site . http://services.google.com:8882/urlconsole/controller this link will solve your problem

I wouldn't remove it, I'd 301 it and build links to it. Same result, but better SEO

Right , Removing URL from Google can be harmful for site. Better way use 301 Redirects .

if you are really bothered about the cache - create a blank page where the old page used to be, and put a small and unnoticable link, linking to the page, on your homepage.

or if you dont want to do that - link to the blank page from this thread, im sure google will find it, re-cache it, etc.

    problem solved.

If your site is getting crawled regularly and you remove all navigation to the removed pages thay should disapeer fairly quickly.
