I'm totally new to the website biz and I feel like I'm spending all of my time on-line trying different ways to get my website seen and still not one single purchase. The most visits I've had according to Analytics is 2 ppl in one day. I've created back links (could use advice and how to get more) and even started a Twitter account. I paid "Submission Hub" $50! to submit my website plus I manually submitted to Google and other SE's to no avail. I have Traffic Travis and Web CEO which tell me that I am not ranked on any search engine yet. I'm sick of spending money and I'm so lost. How do I get on a search engine?!
My advice is, be patience. To make Google index your site; build up more content, more back links (directory submissions and other sites related to your website), add articles to sites like digg.com and delicious. Those things make it index alot faster, and try to get your site in dmoz.org A link to your website would be better.
Create an account at google webmastertools if u havent already and send a sitemap to google. You also could make a google profile and put a link there to your site, i think its do follow and pr 10. So it would be some nice backlink. And also make a linkedin account with a link to your site.
Sign up for traffic bug its free. It will submit your website to up to 138 search engines. You will also need Patience some websites will take longer to rank depending on the difficulty of the keyword you have chosen. Create some web 2.0 pages/sites and continue to backlink. Best advice I got for you. Wish you well
From my experience: about two weeks for Google to index the sites. Yahoo a bit longer. Bing a few months if you're lucky.
Yeah, Google indexes blogs quickly and so does Yahoo but I don't know what's up with Bing-I am very well indexed by Yahoo and oK by Google but nothing from Bing-My blog's a month old.
Make sure your robots.txt file is correct and not blocking the Search spiders. IF you have a wordpress blog make sure the privacy settings are set to public and not private. There has been more than one person recently that I saw was accidentally blocking search spiders with WP..
It does not depend on complete luck. Also I believe google hates it if you keep trying to submit your site over and over, just submit it once and forget about it, then check back later, thats always worked for me.
