How long until I get back in google after pentalty for interlinking to much

I had a network of sites get penalized back on feb 1 because I was interlinking way too much. Has anyone ever had a penalty for this and if so how long did it take to get back in the search engines? I had a network of about 75 sites linking to one major site and they all got hit including my major site. I was not linking out on the major site. I have fixed all the problems 100% and submitted a reinclusion request and need to know how long until I get back in the search engines.

Penalties are not easy to go away. In spite of reinclusion request and cleaning up the mess, it can still take months or even years.

The major site that has been penalized was a very trusted site before I started the interlinking and it ranked 1st in google for all kinds of terms. It is also the first penalty I have had in 4 years of being online.

Hi Wishbone ... thanks for the great link about penalties and re-inclusion. I learned much, and recommend the linked-to article for all to read.

So how long does a Google penalty typically last for? My site was penalized for what I believe was duplicate content several months ago (my rankings dove straight down literally overnight) and am wondering if I'll ever have a chance of getting back to where I was in the rankings - which was #1 for many of my primary keywords. Or is it better to grab a new domain and start over?!

No one knows for sure. Couple be a month could be 3 years.

Did they all have the same IP? Were you linking each site together?

You can UNDO all those that you know are not ethical. And then start building links and create unique contents.. gt natural links etc.. and wait.....

The sites were not all on the same IP but I was linking them together way to much. I have since fixed every one of them and they are no longer linking out to even one other site. Roughly how long should it take before they START to get back into google?

Most probably it is going to take 6 months...at least..
if you remove everything that is illegal or unethical and start to build the link again..white hat method..
You should be able to rank high again for your keywords after 6 months time..
but then again.. you can never be too sure.. google never going to tell you
exactly when are they going set you free.. LOL.. i seriously hate them for this..
but base on many experience.. not my own.. it is most probably 6 months..
in the mean time..... move on..

To get it out from the penalty start getting some more good backlinks from blogs , social bookmarking etc.

This is the best and the fastest way that you can come out of penalty

Although it does sound like interlinking is a cause of the Google pen. - are you sure that is the ONLY problem? The interlinking was probably picked up by "software". The flag might have raised a human review and more issues may have been discovered!

You can imagine the number of people who submit reinclusion requests to google. My guess is that, because of the big number of requests, you will have to wait for quite some time before your request is processed.
