How long to take top 5 page one?

    Hi,

Guys, could anyone give me an idea on how many (estimate) one-way content related links from seperate websites before you rank top page.

Lets say the keyword is very competitive and the top three websites have
    50,000 backlinks.

How many websites do you think are linking to these top three?

are we talking 150-200 websites or like 1000 websites?

    There is no magic number!

First, all backlinks are not created equal. One back link from a website like Ford.com to an automotive blog could be worth more than 10,000 links from unrelated spammy links. So just looking at numbers is useless.

Next, while Google does put weight on links, it is not the only thing that is looked at, not by far. A site that has a ton of back links but does not have much relevent, high quality content on the site will not rank high.

SEO is far more than just getting links!

just make a research on their backlinks. Find URLs linking to them, search for exact placement of the link and you will have an idea on how many websites link to them. For example, if the link is sitewide, you could just search "site:websitethatgivesthebacklinkhere.com" and you could approximate how many backlinks it has from that website. If they are linked from a lot of sites Sitewide then they might have only 50-100 different URLs linking to them, else if they are linked only from single pages from sites they could have thousands of URLs linking to their pages.

Yeah it's not possible to give an exact number of required links. It's not even possible to give an accurate estimate. In one case it may only take links from 5 - 10 high quality websites. In another case it may take hundreds or thousands. It is relative to your specific niche.

You have to look deeper to compare different factors:
-how many of those backlinks use that specific link anchor text
-how many of those backlinks are from relevant pages
-how strong all of the linking websites are
-how their links are distributed...many links on a few sites or many links on many sites
-age of both their own domain and the linking domains
-how good the on-page optimization is for that keyword

By spending several hours examining factors like this, you might figure out a rough number. Really you won't know exactly how many links it will take until you go ahead and start building links. Even then you might not know. You might have to keep gradually adding more and more links until you beat them.

There is no hard and fast rule to that. Get yourself a couple of PR9 backlinks and you don't need 50,000. Generally speaking though not all of those backlinks will have the desired anchor text so a safe bet would be a few hundred good quality PR links with the text of your choosing, considering your site is built properly.

I think you have a VERY narrow and VERY incorrect view of SEO and of your market! And I am going to prove it to you with only 2 minutes of research!

Using the second link in your signature I did a bit of research on the keyword “Casino Deposit Bonus” to see how many back links the site listed in your signature had, where you were listed, and how many backlinks were found for the top 10 in that keyword.

    The Bad News:

The bad news is that the site in your signature, well I couldn’t find it in the top 20 so I stopped looking!

    The Good News:

According to Google, the site has 1480 links (that is a good number in Google, cause we all know they don’t list all the back links)

Well, at least it would seem to be good news based on your comment about how in your niche backlinks are the only thing important! But upon closer inspection, the number 5 site has 1350 back links, 130 less than the site listed in your signature. The number 10 site only has 160 backlinks, that is 1320 back links less than the site in your signature.

So if we go by the theory of backlinks being the only thing that matters why is a site that has 160 backlinks listed higher than a site that has 1480?

BECAUSE SEO IS FAR MORE THAN JUST BACKLINKS.

If there is anybody reading this that is new to SEO, and you read that Backlinks are the Be-All to End-All approach to SEO do some research before you believe them. And search engines do not care what your “market” is, their algorithm doesn’t change based on if the site is about casinos or socks.

An SEO approach should be different for each market, and each site in that market, but there is NO market that backlinks are the ONLY factor in getting ranked!

Its not all about a game of backlinks so you can identify by how many backlinks a website can rank 1st. There are website with zero backlinks coming 1st position. how ? By traffic but this is not stable. Even there are many website which comes first with tons of backlinks and no content.
