I have added an article to our site and im waiting for google to index the page because as its an original article I want it to be known as the original.

One question,if somebody was to copy the article before the page had been indexed and put it on their site which was indexed before mine would google then see the copy as the original or would they be able to tell it was actually our article.

nope, they will probably see theirs as the original.....do u already have traffic coming to your site and worried that someone will go to that page and copy the article??

    Use http://www.copyscape.com

I wouldnt worry to much about this, it'll get indexed eventually

Yes I was a bit worried as for some reason the home page cache was on 02 November although many other pages were 09/10 Nov.

Not sure why the homepage was found so long a go-any ideas?

Technically you could get more backlinks than the copied versions, and Google would put you higher in search results. Age doesn't always matter, although it's a big factor in some situations.

Same with my blogspot blog, once the blog is established in the index it can only take minutes to index new posts.

One good little trick is to simply just stumble the page using stubleupon to get it cached and indexed quickly

A sitemap will definitely help - use an xml one for search engines and html for users
