    Hi Guys,

    Say have bluewigets.com

Site has launched 2 months ago. and is top of page 2 on google.

Page 1 is not really too competitive.

What is the quickest way to get it to #1 on google for "blue widgets"

Will article directory submissions and press releases be enough?

How long should it take, approx?

    Thanks

    Mike

First of all, getting to #1 for anything is never guaranteed.

I'd recommend looking at your competitors' content and structure to determine if they're doing anything that you're not (and should/could be). I'd also suggest going through their backlinks.

I've found that obtaining links (with bluewigets as the keyword) is an easy way to produce results, as is obtaining a link from a page that ranks in the top ten for blue wigets (assuming they're not a competitor).

Have you submitted your sitemap to Google yet?

Everything dandonovon said is sound advice. Make sure that your page has been thoroughly optimized on-page for the keyword phrase "blue widgets". That means <title>, <h1>, <h2> elements, content of the page, etc...

Then make sure your on-site optimization has been done correctly as well to promote the rankings of that URL for "blue widgets". That means everywhere on your site that you link to the URL that already ranks for "blue widgets" that you use "blue widgets" either as the link text or some variation of "blue widgets" as the link text like "small blue widgets", "large blue widgets", "blue widget", "blue widget accessories", etc. Preferably most of the time link to the URL with the exact phrase "blue widgets" but some times you mix it up with variations like described above.
