Generally a site will be indexed by the search engines in the following order:

Google
Microsoft
Yahoo

The fastest way to get indexed is to start building backlinks.

thanks for the replies everyone but i think some have missed my point. I am happy with my site and where it shows in all search engines, my problem is i created a new page and updated my Sitemap but this page is yet to be indexed, this is not about placement....example if my page is

www.1234.com/abc.htm

if i type that addess in to a search engine (not address bar) my page does not come up.

also if i use Site:mywebsite.com this page does not come up.

Obviously if i type it in to the address bar all is well so it has be uploaded correctly

 

Batter u submit your site in social bookmarking sites like stumble, dig, propeller and delicious. Your site will get indexed very soon.

The longest i've seen a site to get indexed was 1 month (4 weeks).
The quickest I've seen was same day.

In your webmaster tools, check the crawl rate and list your sitemap.xml within your robots.txt file.

 

Interesting, I didn't submit my sitemap to Google, and it was still indexed within a few days.

 

coup of things you can do, ping, start getting back links, start social networking, it might take 1-2 weeks to get indexed, good luck

 

Its utterly depend on your work towards promoting back links to your site. Do create more back links, it will make your site indexed soon.

 

If you submit a sitemap to GYB then it only takes a few days to get indexed.

 

it usually takes upto 3 weeks to see your site indexed. it took 10 days to mine
