Generally speaking, it should not take more than 72 hours for a wire transfer to be completed. It can even take just a few hours depending on the sending and receiving bank. If there is any errors in the order, it may delay the transfer. One week is really too long. Get the sender to fax or scan and send you the Wire Transfer Order so that you can countercheck and get your bank to check on the transfer.
1 week is too long. Have they definetley sent the payment? I ask this because in the past when I was selling something someone said they'd sent payment for it but no money turnt up as it hadn't really been sent.
Wire transfer depends on the country sometimes. If you are getting the money from somewhere outside the USA, 5-7-business days could be a reasonable time.
Apart from just a reference number, can you have them fax you the entire wire transfer receipt ? Then you can countercheck to see if the request is done correctly and your money did not go into someone's elses account.
The banks are giving me the run around. My bank says I need to talk to their bank , and their bank says I need to talk to to their bank. Why should I do?
Ask their bank whether they can confirm that the transfer was done successfully without problems. If they say yes, then go and ask your bank if they have received a yet unprocessed payment from their bank account. If they just do not have any records, it's likely stuck at the sender's bank. In that case, press them to check twice if the transfer was successful or whether it may have been delayed by something.
Just my opinion but i would always go with Western Union. Because a customer of my sent by western union (my first time receiving) and it was here the same day and he said i only cost him 20$ processing verses 40$. I have received now twice using western union and it was fast. Cheers Richie
Wire Transfer takes only 48-72 working hours. Are you sure you gave correct details to the sender like SWIFT Code, Bank name, Branch code etc.
Not for domestic wire transfers. It's a different story about international wire transfers of course.
