How long does it generaly take to get listed in DMOZ

I submitted my site a few weeks ago and just made a search and its still not there.

Do they contact you at all or just either add it to there files or reject it.

    Thank you

The best tactic for DMOZ is: "submit Your site and forget about it one second later". It depends on is there any redactor in Your category, how much that category popular is, etc.

DMOZ, is a big direcrory, and if you get listed in dmoz you gain a lot of links , coz theres a lot of web sites connect in dmoz but not totally you get a high PR.
But to be index in DMOZ it takes a lot of time.....

From one day to three years - if the site is listable. Many sites do not meet the guidleins and will never be listed.

There is no average time, although some have claimed it's around six months.

It's safest to consider the time to be reviewed as being entirely random. Two sites suggested the same day to the same category - one may be listed the next day, the other may take a year.

Some sites that were suggested three years ago in a particular category may still wait for review, while sites that were never suggested get added.

That is incorrect information. Please ignore it.

Think i should just forget about it.

My site has changed a lot since i submitted it.

It was mainly an article site selling a few specific ebooks but now its basicly just a sales page with the articles kinda hidden.

Cant see them adding me now

    Thanks anyway eveyone

Much appreciated and il keep my fingers crossed

Hm, I'm sorry if I was wrong but... don't really catch it. You say there is no difference between time we've to wait for inclusion in category with a few entries and a redactor, and category with a lots of entries without a redactor?

no category has no 'redactors' (editors) since any editor assigned to a category above this one is the editor of this category too. The editor is simply not encouraged to list himself as the editor of that category too, so that people viewing the category see the 'Become an Editor' link and are encouraged to help out if they feel they know a lot about the category's subject.

So basically, even if a category has no listed editor, it's likely that it actually has hundreds! The visits from these editors are essentially random (some editors like to have a go at categories with lots of waiting submissions, others quite the reverse, so that's not really a factor either) so it really is a bit of a myth that what you suggested affects how quickly a site will be reviewed.

You are probably using the search feature in DMOZ to find your site. Search data lags behind the live directory by a few weeks, some times.
