How Long to Get an SEO Domain Indexed?

Discussion in 'Google' started by ValuableVisitors, Jul 22, 2007.

I am trying my hand at SEO and bought the domain Venture Capital Jobs for a new site that I would like to set up. I currently just have a text landing page (until I get ranked well and can justify building a full themed site).

However, I put links to the new domain on my sites (1 PR5, many PR4) and it has not been indexed after 24 hours.

Anybody have advice on how to get these SEO domains to be indexed and rank well?

    Thanks,

By the way, it has definitely been crawled. I can see it in my stats.

It would be very difficult to get a site ranked well when the site does not provide any information or is useful to anyone.

I suggest you build the site and provide useful information, then you can go and exchange links with other related websites which will in turn enable your site to be ranked well and be crawled by all the search engines.

It seems to me, you are going about it all the wrong way. You just cant get an empty landing page ranked well for various keywords.

I believe pet4homes is absolutely spot on

Infact, as it is even if its indexed, it would probably be de indexed soon after, I've seen this happen a few times

And why do you call it an SEO domain ?

Its a job site, and that is a massively competitive market, with multiple millions of pages, pages filled with content

It takes just as long to get an SEO Domain, as you call it, indexed as it does any other domain. Usually 24-48 hours after being spidered.

The problem being that you will not get ranked well with what you have, not for anything even close to what you are trying to rank for anyways. If that's your plan of action (wait till I'm ranked, then build a site worth ranking), then you should give up now. Honestly. You need a ton more learning before you should be tackling high traffic keywords, imo.

This is a relatively low traffic keyword. It only gets a few hundred searches all month.

But, thanks for the advice. I am currently evaluating solutions for what I have in mind.

This is a statement of a failure happening. Read a little more of how SEO works, and how the business of the web works.
    That is not it.
That is the statement of someone who expects it to be easy, and will not put in the time and effort to achieve greatness the correct way, and will only take action if he has a guarantee of success.

I don't know anything in business or life that works that way,

Well, if it's low enough competition, you might have a good shot. Biggest thing will be the competition for other sites that might be ranking for higher competition variations and combinations of those words. In the top 10 now are sites like bc.edu and business.com, some fairly heavy hitters:

    http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&q=Venture+Capital+Jobs

The Top 3 listings are sites that are 10, 8, and 12 years old respectfully. The youngest site in the Top 10 is #10 at 4 years old. There are 286,000 sites with links pointed at them using the anchor phrase [venture capital].

You can still put content up though, make a nice minimalist site, and let it age. You might luck out, and as it gets older it will carry more weight.
