How long to establish backlinks?

I know for a fact my site is linked on other sites since I have been trading links with other sites that are helping contribute tutorial content to my site... how long until I show up as having some backlinks?

do they actually need to write www.whatever.com to get the backlink credit or can it be within th HTML code where its the

<a href=blhbladlkjsflaskjf.com> CLICK HERE ON THIS AWESOME SITE</a>

format?

go to yahoo and do a link:[your domain name]

you'll see what you have...

 

I would agree, links seem to pop up in yahoo first. For google it always takes a little longer.

 

Which tool are you using to check backlinks? Use Yahoo Site Explorer to check backlinks. If you know you've build some links, then you will most likely find them in Yahoo.

 

thanks for the tips!! When I go to yahoo and type in link:smftutorials.com it wont show up anything!??!! am I doing it wrong as far as input? ive checked a backlink checker and it seems to say that I have like 44 backlinks.. lol no idea...

 

Google can take a LONG LONG time. And even after months, some of these links don't show up for whatever reason.

I also like to use Yahoo explorer for this. They usually show up for me within 2 weeks in Site Explorer. Faster for a more powerful site.

 

If you add your site into your DP signature you will get picked up by the big 3 yahoo,msn and google
