...ok so new question ...how long does it take to build up serious user figures with a new website... I've generated figures of around 1000 visitors (600 uniques) a day after almost 9 months - site has pr 4 - does very well in search engines...any ideas? I started with nothing and growth is about 10% a month... just wodnering if there is a trend here and if anyone ahead of me on this trend can advise what to expect...thanks!
wow! i love what you said. I certainly agree with him. Quality traffic is slower to build but it last for a long time
Well to gain rankings it takes time 4months-1year ..... If you don't advertise meanwhile or is not becoming viral well theres your answer ...
I do it through social media - forums, backlinks, social bookmarking, blog comments, niche & quality directory submission, and more. These methods have worked pretty well at helping my sites take off and gain credibiltiy with search engines. Best of luck % Take care!
Depends on the marketing job that you're using. There are so many ways to get a high traffic but applying them all would cost you lots of time.
Hi redsuperted, Would you mind sharing your site URL with us? I would say that 600 UV a day for 9 months is a pretty good number. At 10% growth, i think its a very healthy rate as well. Will be interested to know which niche you're in. Cheers TP
SEO Advertising/Networking on popular forums related to your niche Striking it rich with Digg/Stumbleupon Paid advertising....e.g, Adwords and banner promotions
I'm on my 10th month with just one website. A little over a million pageviews a month. Approximately 80,000-90,000 unique visitors a month. Haven't spent a dime on advertising. Just spent a lot of time. MySpace was/is tremendous. Without them, my site wouldn't have grown this well. Message board postings. Yahoo! Answers. A little bit of SEO (which I'm still learning).
For every niche there is a different way to effectively advertise. For me it was a popular video directory for the site in my signature which now constitutes a large chunk of my visitors (not counting repeat visitors). What you need to do is find that one big thing and your website will take off...I would help you further, but it the most effective means of advertising changes for every site.
The only way to establish major traffic your website has to have something to give or offer that brings people to it. For example: A one of a kind script. I find it very difficult to get over 2000UV per day on a low budget site. The best way is to run a network of several sites like I do, if you are unwilling to get into something big and expensive (I do, also).
