Hi all, I have recently put my website online and have noticed that if I do a UK search for relevent keywords then my site comes up on page 47 (God knows where it would be for a non local search). Assuming I manage to get some backlinks etc, I was wondering how long it will take for it to be ranked again? Thanks.

Do a lot of On Page Optimization. Fix those tags that are not well optimized. this is a good seo guide
It can take anywhere from a few weeks to months to get back to where one used to be. It will be a lot of hard work for sure!
Thanks for the replies. I think I've fixed the meta tags now, although I had read that they are not relevent to search engines any more. Is that true? Is it a lack of text content or could the extra content be anything such as images? Thanks.
I dont think Google use meta tags for serps, but a good meta description will increase the clickthrough rate of people who do see you in the listings. Your extra content should be mainly text which is spiderable, rather than images.
