    Hello all.

I just published my sitemap about 4 days ago and was wondering how long till google starts crawling it. Does my page have to Cache first?

    Thanks!

Strangely, submitting site maps is a little slower way of getting your site indexed.

Instead, submit your site through google analytics and I am sure your site would be indexed within hours!

For new sites, I've seen Google take a little over a week to snag the sitemap. After that, it's usually just a couple of days before stuff starts showing up in their index. Just my experience, YMMV.

Thanks for the info. You know I signed up for the google analytics the same time my sitemap was submitted. By submitted, I mean publishing it from my site. The google analytics says that everything is good and checks out ok. Just waiting to see my page move in the rankings.

Before last week when I went to google and typed in link:www.tankinz.com in the search bar I didn't show any links to my site. My biggest competitor who ranks in the top three on pretty much every engine shows about 26 links. I figure it shouldn't take much to have my page start showing up higher.

Today I checked my links and I noticed that I finally have one! It was from a press realease that I did. Any other ideas of how I can improve my links, I have joined some forums and used some anchor text, just looking for other ideas.

    Thanks all!

I use google webmaster tools to submit my sitemap update. This way webmaster goes out and verifies that sitemap and gets all the information. Usually this is done within an hour. I also do the same with yahoo site explorer.

Definitely agree to use the webmaster tools and submit the sitemap there, and was always done within a couple hours.
