My site has reappeared on the first couple of pages for some competitive keywords after disappearing back in mid November. During November 2007 my site came from pretty much nowhere to make the top 10 for most of my key phrases but then after about a week at the top the never ending Google flux sent my site to obscurity again (it remained indexed and frequently cached). As of today it is back in the top 10 for most of the key phrases once more so can I expect it to stay there this time? Obviously I know none of you can give me a definite answer one way or the other but if anyone else has experienced things like this I would very much like to hear your thoughts. For the time being I am very happy indeed as today is already a record day for me on Adsense and there is still time to go!
And another thimg, why did my post get moved here? I posted it in the Google forum which I felt was entirely relevant as this question relates to Google, the Google Dance, Google search algorithms and basically belongs in the Google forum!!
Thanks for that inspired reply, but I have heard that many times before. I have been building links to the site gradually for the past year and it ranks in the top 5 spots on Yahoo and MSN for most of its targeted keyphrases. I am asking specifically about the phenomenon known as the Google Dance, why Google pursue this method of search engine ranking and how my site has gone from nowhere to top 10 back to nowhere and then back to the top 10 again in the space of a couple of months. Don't go telling me that backlinks are the solution to every problem! Sorry to be blunt but I see hundreds of almost useless replies on a daily basis just so people can boost their post count and get exposure for their sig links. This forum is suffering from a downfall in the post quality which I hope it can quickly reverse.
