Hey, Last night I received my domain that I bought, http://www.webhostingfind.net, and I had godaddy accept the domain and told my host the nameservers. For some reason when I go to my site, even though all of the files are uploaded there, I get to the hosts main page. Even when I try to link directly to an image I get to the hosts page (ex. http://www.webhostingfind.net/includes/images/image.jpg) Do you think it just takes a few days for the site to work when you do this? It is showing my current host when I go to the domain but not the contents...weird or no? Thanks!
My new domain always up in minutes after I purchase it from namecheap.com, point to their parking pages and ready to edit to point to my server. From there it took godaddy sometimes to setup my hosting, a few hours.
When I opened my first site it was up using the IP and my account URL within minutes, and available via the real URL within hours. Better call them..
I've never seen a host that redirected a domain to their own website (they usually have park pages or some other temporary placeholder), but then I've never seen a web hosting company that had adsense ads prominently displayed on their main page either. . . . I use godaddy for some domains I registered & I usually can access my control panel/website within 30 minutes at most, though the stated time period for propagation is 24-72 hours. If things aren't good for you shortly - I would contact your host. I've never had to wait 24-72 hours for dns propagation, though I've been told by many hosts that this is how long it can take. It might depend on where you live, too - as some places in the world may be able to see your website even though you cannot.
are you sure that you have uploaded the files in the right spots, what it seems like to me is that they have a 404 redirect to their page, and your files aren't being found. ::edit:: and I found this on their forums : so apparently you can't have the word ebay or paypal in your pages, wow talk about pickey, but what do you expect for free eh? =)
