Hi I just bought godaddy virtual server. It has been 8 hours and my server list is empty. No email instructions either. How long does it usually take?

If you haven't recieved a confirmation email from them, you'd better contact them. If you have, it could take anywhere up to 24 hours (max.) for a provision of a VPS.

I'm surprised GoDaddy hasn't implemented an auto-VPS provisioning system...if it's been over 8 hours though I would contact them, I would expect GoDaddy to have a quicker resolution time than that as this is a simple task.

Godaddy is simply just too big...

And their main source of income is domains.

Honestly, godaddy's support = 1/10 for me ... i never liked what they offered.

Well, thats just my 2 cents
    regards,
    Ryan

It's probably their fraud check. I hate it.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Online Support. Please be advised that it can take up to 72 hours for the server to show up in the account. If you have not seen the service active after this time frame please reply back to this email and we would be more than happy to look further into the matter.

Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.

    Best Regards,
    Thad P.

72 hours is bull. I am going to cancel if it crosses 24 hours.

Most of the hosting providers do not take 72 hours for the setup process of dedicated servers as well. I have been with BODhost and they had completed the setup process of a fully managed VPS within 3 hours after the order was placed by me and they verified the order. Even for dedicated server setup process, they do not take more than 24 hours. I wonder why your hosting provider has asked for 72 hours of time to complete the setup process of the VPS :(
