How long is a good test period?

If I wanted to see the results of swapping some ad's around, how long should I leave it? Leaving it up for only a couple days might not get you all the results you need to make a decision. But leaving it up too long could hurt you if the change was for the worse. So how long would you give before you compared the results?

I think a couple weeks might be long enough to get a good sampling, without stretching the test period out too long.

if you have a high traffic site you will see the difference almost immediatly, i swapped my ads about on one site and that day i saw major improvements (site gets 500 uniques a day)

So then I guess it would depend upon how much traffic you receive. The more traffic the fewer days are needed to test.

Right on. Thanks. I'm gonna let the ads run for 1 week the way they are now, then I am going to swap them for 2 weeks and see what the difference is. The site doesn't have a huge amount of traffic right now so I think 1 week should be long enough.

imo you have to test it for at least 1 month and 5000 unique visitors.

I think that 7 days should be plenty enough to tell you what your results will be like.
