3 years...just kind of fell into it, and am thankful every day that I did. affiliate marketing is one of the greatest, lucrative industries to be in. :)

I've only been in it for less than 6 months. (I'm still new to all this website stuff.) I'm very thankful about it too! It's great :)

I made about 4 sales last month, which came to about $50... I know it's quite pathetic but my sites don't receive that much traffic so I'm pleased with it... :)

I started my first affiliate site about a year ago. It didn't perform very well because the market is very saturated with that product. Since then I've tried a couple of other ones, but I haven't really put forth much effort into links or PPC so the profits have been marginal. I did put up a new affiliate site about a week and a half ago, and this one has already made me $400 in commission, which isn't bad for having 80 uniques since launching the site. My conversion rate is just below 5%. I think that if I can pull off a top 10 for my main phrase in Google I'll be making enough to retire on.

80 uniques, 5% conversion rate and $400 commission?! Can I ask what you're promoting, or would that threaten your chances? You sure are doing well for yourself though!

Since around 1998 or 99 for me too.

For years I didn't make any money at it because I just dabbled and put up a banner here and there. Never really understood the power of it back then.
I still don't personally do much traditional affiliate marketing myself. Too busy consulting and helping others learn to make more money - which is how I make a good living today. Been doing Affiliate Management and consulting for about 4 years now.

to publically announce what I'm promoting would probably ruin my chances. all i can tell you is that it is something that a lot of people are promoting, and i discovered a magic keyword with more searches per day than sites competing for the term.

I have been doing it for about 4 years now. It is alot of work. The more work you put into it the more money you will make. But you also need to have a good approache at things.

I agree about the more effort = more money and also on the approach. I'm still new to all this so I have a long way to go though! :)

I started in the affiliate marketing industry a little over a year ago but don't know much about the webmaster side. I hope to learn what it takes to be successful here.
