Around a year and a half now.

I was feeling pretty badly about the whole business for a while, seeing so many new crappy directories pop up every day but I have decided to just concentrate on my own directories and ideas and not worry about the fly-by-night guys. Eventhough they can give the directory industry a bad name I think every successful industry has them so I just have to live with it.

I have bought 2 directories on 8th or 9th January. I have opened another one on 28th March. So I am in directory business for a little over 3 months. I have not tried anything during this time --but left all my other fields --and concentrated fully on learning the MATRIX of the directory business. Everyday --I learn something new. :(

Hopefully, - I could be able to implement some of my knowledge into the next few months. But as the universal truth goes --Education never ends:cool:

I’m not sure exactly how many years it’s been but it was before search engines had any relevance in the market.

About the time when I joined DP, so it was a good timing for me. Initially, I was just doing SEO only. I didn't think DP got so much of good info on directory industry. But I'm glad to check those threads to find out other directory owners and informational threads. ;)

but guess most have not answered my other questions, esp those who have been in for a long-time. Do you ever feel tired of doing this as it can be quite repetitive? Have you ever thought about leaving this directory field?

I’m mostly retired now and spend my time traveling. With a web based business you can delegate authority from anyplace with just a Blackberry. I was getting very burned out but still enjoy the customer service end.

I've been in the DIRECTORY business for just about a year and have learned alot. My first directory was a little messed up and was getting ready to get out but being on this forum and talking to others have helped me alot. Although I have 3 new ones I just started and 1 that I wont finish for about a year or so which will be MUCh better.

Not necessarily. Don't think I will do a job that just keeps doing the same stuff even though the money is good. It's not everything u know? ;)

    Since October 2006!

Right know I just testing the waters with "mywebsearches.com", and plan to keep it alive until I die (or give it to my son maybe he will know what to do with it)

Another point that I would like to make:

It is great to know this directory owners community!!! It shows that together we can make a lot more in the future.

Thanks everybody for contributing skills/knowledge/ideas/and much more and for helping each other.

and many thanks to PHPLD too
