They will stay #1 for atleast a few more years. Nobody knows what the future will bring so you never know if they get some good competition.

I can never imagine Bing becoming more popular than Google ever. I think Google is the most user freindly search engine so i would not want Bing to take over.

Has anyone compared Google and Bing's home page and search results pages recently. They are nearly identical. I havn't looked in to it so I dont know if there is some information/advertisement sharing going on but even the sponsored ads look identical to google's. Whats all that about?

I think it's a safe bet to say Google will be around for a very long time. If one search engine or another does emerge past Google then I'll know where to switch my SEO tactics to... lol

Let's think about it this way. Facebook overthrew MySpace, so there's a great chance that Bing/Yahoo can overthrow Google. I expect a lot of users to convert permanently to Bing with the release of Windows 8.

Google is doing everything it can to differentiate itself from Bing right now. This is because Microsoft wants to copy what users expect from Google in order to compete (all they do is copy) but if Google continues to morph it will be a new entity by the time Bing catches up and users will never want what Bing is offering (because they're used to Google). Also keep in mind that something like 80% of Microsoft's profits come from the sell of Office and Windows. A strong push by Google into the OS market with some kind of miraculous wonder OS would crush Microsoft just as easily as Microsoft could crush Google by stealing search.

×¢oogle is still strong, however i think it`s good that we have other searches linke bing and yahoo, so we will get traffic from there too.

A lot of answers and every is pretty usual. So, I'd like to add some thought: those who will find how to recognize pictures, animations (Flash) and video could over compete current search giants, taking in consideration that more and more information became in a lots of media forms (photo, animation, video and audio) and this tendency will only grow up.
