Hi, can anyone give a rough suggestion of how long windows 7 home premium full version (not an upgrade) might take to install?

My reason for asking is if i start it late in the evening, dont want to find myself up late because i underestimated the install time needed.

Also i will be installing on a brand new hard drive.

It depends on your hardware but basically it takes 1 hour to 3 hours.

7 should be installed in less than 30 minutes. Updating the OS will take longer than the initial install.

Depends on the speed of your processor, and if your hardware is fast reading. If you have a single core old style p4 it will take a while. If you have a dual core+ cpu depending on what you have 30 minutes for a speedy install up to several hours. Updates and patches add even more to that.

However if you have a P4 you really shouldn't be considering Windows 7.

It depends on the specs of your computer. Just installed Win 7 Ultimate earlier today and it took only 45 minutes.
