How Long for DNS propogation?

Yesterday I bought 3 domains and transfered them to my hosting account at GoDaddy. Everything went fine. Now I am just waiting for the DNS servers to catch up so I can start working on them. How long should this take, and is there anything I can do to speed it up?

DNS takes 15min - 24 hours ... make sure you clear your cache and restart your browser so it notices the changes.

DNS prop. may take upto 72 hours! (as a maximum) and in most cases it takes few minutes, also you can ask some friends from different countries to check if ur domains are working or not yet. it may be ok from other locations.

also as Dreamerr said clear your browser cash and try again

It will sometimes take 2 minutes, and other times take 24 hours. My longest time for a "complete" transfer was about 12 hours at Godaddy. I hate the excitment of buying a site, than I cant get it up within 2 minutes. ;-)

Yes, I buy a domain and I want to get started with it right away!

It has been over 24 hours now, I've cleared my cache and it still hasn't updated. This is only the 2nd time I have bought a domain from someone else and I am not sure there isn't something more I need to do. I have an email into godaddy and tomorrow I will probably give them a call.

    DNS doesn't propagate; it's a pull operation.

But anyway, what's the domain? We can look at the TTL and see how long it should take in the worst case. TTLs are often set to 24 hours.

If you tried to access the domain just before the change was made, then that will probably prolong the period during which you see old data.

Someone else on a different ISP where nobody has tried to access the domain yet will probably see the new correct info straight away.

Turns out it was a Noob error. Like I said this was only the second time I had done this. I had to change the DNS something or other. (Sorry, I'm a not a techie person, I only do this stuff because I have no choice!)
Once I did that it was almost immediate.
    Thanks for all the help!

Usually its only a few hours, especially on new domains pulled from the registry. I have had it take up to 48 hours before though.
