How long does it take to index a changed page in google

    Hi friends,

I have a site which is offering students to study in China. I currently changed the title, description and keywords in the meta tag section. I am sure with the new title and description, my site will display on the first page of google from the third page ;) When I checked today, it is still showing the old title and description in google.

Any idea, how long does it take to display the changed title and description in google ?

    thanks.

You have to wait till the next time of indexing. We cannot predict when will it happen, I think it will not take more than 2 weeks.

It depends how google is seeing your site now. If they have you high, they will index you faster and more often. Otherwise you have to wait a few weeks. You can also check when they visited you for the last time when you check the so called 'cache' when you are searching in google

Usualy a page/site with high PR will get crawled more often & changes will be picked up.

If you have a new site or low PR it will take a little longer. I've never had to wait any more than a few days to see changes to title & description even with my PR0 sites.

Don't worry though, it will change. Maybe ping the site here - http://pingomatic.com/

Just a rough guess but I'd say it will change by the end of the week ;)

you can increase the frequency at which Google checks your page by updating your page every day. But only put out quality content don't just change the page just for the sake of changing it.

Pages can be check several times a day by Google but you would have to have a really strong site for that to occur. Most homepages that are reasonably established a check every day.

by making a change of about 20% every 24 hours you can usually get indexed every day. But it doesn't really matter in this you're updating something of significance such as daily specials or some type of text that really matters Like news.

Yes I know it should be in the next indexing, not sure though, how many weeks, thanks.

Yes in google the date it cached the site is March 5th. Hope it gets sooner :)

Yes its a 2 months old site with PR0, however I have been rising 5 levels in the two most targeted keywords every week. I am on the 25th and 15th position of my targeted keywords. have pinged the site again as you advised ;)

I just changed the title, keywords and description in the meta tags in the 1st week of April. However I make sure I add atleast one new page to the site every week. Will it have any effect, if I start a blog in the sub-domain which I can update daily ?

    done, thanks.

It usually doesn't take much longer than a week. To speed things up, notify them of changes with Google Webmaster Tools.

Some tips, update xml site map on your Google Webmaster Tool, also changing the crawling rate a little bit higher could help getting your site re-indexed.

If your new title and description is not caching then you can do some off page work with new title and description. I hope it will cache very soon.

I think you need to ping the search engine so as to get indexed as soon as possible.

Also, submit your website on other websites which frequently get crawled.

It takes upto 15 days to update the titles / description... depending upon the crawl rate and reputation of your website

It depends upon the site updation & there are various factors depends, if you updated your site it will take only 1-2- maximum to index the page, sometime it takes only few minutes to index. If your site is new then it can take upto 1 week.

Well, thanks for your advices, but it seems, google is taking more and more time to get my pages indexed :(
It is almost more than a month now and I am still at the same old default wordpress pages indexed on google. What does this mean ? Is google not coming to my new updated site ?
