    Hi,

I just submitted my site to several search engines, but I want to know how long it takes until it shows up on the search engines such as Google.

    Thanks
    Kev

Could take anywhere from days to weeks. Depends on the engine, depends on where you are at in their crawling cue. I wouldn't expect anything permanent for at least a month. But that's just me. ;)

Just the main directory. As long as there are text links on the main page a search engine spider should be able to crawl in.

I would suggest that u get backlinks from other already indexed websites. I don't think submitting sites directly to search engines would help much.

As said, your best bet to increasing the duration required before indexed is to work on gaining additional links. The more you have, the better chances you have of being crawled by the bot.

Get your posts up to the minimum required here [I think it is 10] to get a signature link.

Put your anchor text [normally your keyword that you use in the title] as your signature link and I will bet you that you will be indexed and ranked in hours.

Submitting your site to google is almost useless these days, google will definitely find you on it's own. I put a site up in September and it took about a month for google to start indexing my pages. When going for links, just remember that links from bad neighborhoods (i.e. link farms with no pagerank) will hurt more than it will help. If your site is about any specific topic it's a good idea to find some other good sites about that topic and see if the webmaster will swap links with you. Pretty much any SEO tutorial will tell you all you need to know about linking.

As long as your site is linked by any site that is indexed in google, you don't need to submit any page at all, you will be automatically indexed.

And remember that the higher the PR of the page from which you're linked, the quicker Google will find you.
    Much better than submitting.
In practice, which is usually what counts in these cases, the best advice you got above is the one that suggests including the URL in a signature of a spidered forum (Foxy), such as this one I think.

It has nothing to do with PR

It is all to do with how often the linking site is getting "botted"

    This site is hourly

I have a PR 0 that is getting botted dai

I have many links from pr4 and 5 pages and have yet to be indexed, the bot only visited once a few weeks ago...I believe the URL was once active before I purchased it...could that be a cause for alarm?

    Thanks

Here is an easy way to get in. Post enough times to be able to add a signature on this forum. Then add one with a link to your website. Then post a few more times. Bots come here all the time. ;)

It's true, posting here will help you out, but I'll tell you another thing I did. I went to blogger and got a blog. Then I went and posted reviews, etc. on the products I have in my online store. Bingo. The blog was indexed within 12 hours, and so were some of the links on it. The problem I'm having with google now is getting to to pick up all my BLs and the rest of my site. Even though I have direct links to product pages on that blog, they're not getting picked up.

I have a site that is hosted by Yahoo! It hasn't been indexed by google at all, and has been live for about 2 months. Is this normal? I have a few back links from some sites that are index pretty well throughout google. Any ideas, thoughts?
