Well I am a pretty honest person, and I want to join the DMOZ team to improve it, and maybe learn a few more things or two about directories.

That's is part the reason why I want to join the team, so I can help people get listed quicker.

That's quite quick compared to some of the answers I have got around here, but like I said, I won't kill myself if I don't get accepted :D, would just be interesting if I get accepted.

If you are truly interested in making the directory better. Do your homework, make your application stand out, and you can be accepted very quickly.

I was accepted in 4 and 1/2 hours.

Well, I think I have the idea that the time consists of when the staff see my application, still no response yet although I'll let you all know whether I get approved or not. But I'm not going to do is tell you what catagory (the last thing I want is people requesting submissions :p).

Thank you all for your kind contribution to this thread and I appreciate all your help.

if you are what you claim you are and edit for yahoo and skaffe, my friend you would not need to learn here but you would probably be teaching.

Sorry if you find me rude, but you must show what you are ... proof of identity ?? otherwise you are just antoher newbie who joined on Sep. 2007 and are trying to jump in the war.

my friend don't even bother. If he was a yahoo editor he wouldn't be wasting his time posting here or even bother looking to work in a normal directory. Secondly, kazaam it is smub :)

but since you purposely misspell the username it displays the "standards" of your editing because i believe yahoo editors atleast read the thing 3 times before posting it in public to make sure there is no spelling error...

I think it all depends on which category you apply to and if there's someone on the other end to review your app.

It varies from 1 day to years.

You can now create an account at Resource Zone and ask for a status check. Oddly enough, they do those for editors.

Sorry, Q, that you can't tell the difference between someone applying to be an editor and someone who has simply submitted a site.

But if you have not been told that you have been rejected to be an editor, then you are still in the queue.

I can tell the difference, what you should be sorry about is the lack of customer service to the end user and submitter. And yes, the end user IS often the submiter. If you do not believe me, explain the 10k geocities sites listed.

You can get status checks on being an editor, but ask for one on a site and you are treated like trash. Sorry, thats not a great way to get a good public image. Editors come first, sites second...that is what is shown in the current system. Having a means to check on site status would help stop multiple submissions...

I'm sorry that you do not care enough about a submitted site to bother with the submitter. I'm sorry that you don't care enough about having a quality directory by neglecting the very sites that could and should be listed...because *I* can't tell the difference between a site and a person

I'm sorry that you hold the editor in higher regard then the overall project!

I am sorry that you feel we who stayed editing in ODP, and did not walk out after 2 minutes, should spend their time telling webmasters who have created nasty spammy websites that we don't want them in the directory. I have better things to do with my time. Good sites get listed when an editor reviews them. Just answered all the status questions.

Why are you so bitter today?

And why do you bring up me leaving, but get all offended when I bring up Annie...you know both go hand in hand don't you? I mean, I walked out because Annie was fired without cause or warning...something you supposedly spoke up against, but are now unwilling to talk about. What happen, they threaten your editor position?

My 27 edits were as good as your thousands of edits. To say differently is to say you did not bother to look at what I've done in my little one category, with nothing but broken help files to guide me.

So if you want to make this personal, give us your editor name so we can make it personal. Till that happens keep the jabs to yourself.

Quality edits are always more important than quantity. I have to agree with that one, Q. Annie is a sweetheart, and she's stuck to the confidentiality clause and hasn't had a mean word to say about the Directory even as an ex-editor.

If you admire her, as most of us do, you might want to follow her lead. Tip o the hat to you, Annie, :).
