How long does it take to be a good copy writer?

    Hello,
I hope everyone is enjoying this forum and have good experience with selling or buying service. My experience is somewhat different and I don't know how to explain it properly. I have been trying to prove myself a good copywriter for the past three years and I am somewhat successful in it, I have got three regular clients and many ongoing projects. I still feel that I am incomplete or something is missing in my writing. I know I can write faster and better than many writers and I am not new to the writing industry yet I feel scared of writing articles. I would stop in the middle of the writing and started taking tests as if I were a naive or new to the subject if even I had attempted it several times in the past. My fears are not about writing an article instead they are about writing perfect. Another thing that I noticed is when I write without care I write better, contrary to it when I do extensive research and spend hours I write crap content. I can't stand my condition. Sometimes, I feel energetic and word will come all by themselves as if I am a treasure of information and most often I am blank and empty. Is this happening with me only or is there anyone who is feeling the same??
My question is how long does it take to be a good copywriter? I would be happy if you share your thoughts and personal experience with writing. How you cope with your fears and pull yourself together when you are upset with the projects and are tired of nonstop writing?
Thanks for reading this thread. I hope that I have posted my question under the right section and I am not violating any of the forum's rules. If this is not the right place to post this thread please fee free to move it.
    Thanks

    Hey there!

I remember those feelings. It's the main reason I don't write articles very often. Buyers of articles expect perfection and I can't deliver that even if I tried my hardest. Hell yeah.. I write great articles but not when I'm stressed.

If you find that your writing goes up and down you need to find a way to keep yourself motivated to do your best. This could mean writing your own products on the side or building a team around you or finding out what keeps you happy while still making you money.

So to answer your questions ... How long is a personal thing. I think copywriting and writing are two different things. I'm not a professional copy writer --- I'm a professional writer. I write everything not just copy. For me I cope with either taking time to enjoy my family and rewarding myself with the smallest thing. Non stop writing is not something I do. I write 3 days a week the other 2 days are research days. This means I don't have to stress out and I'm able to still deliver great work and meet all my deadlines.

Want to chat writing -- send me a PM and we can go from there. :) Best of luck hun!

I knew I was not alone:) Perhaps, I am more sensitive that's why I feel depressed and perplexed while attempting simple topics. You are right, copywriting and writing are two different subjects to discuss, but when you offer services you have to be ready to accept different types of writing orders. There was a time when I didn't even know anything about writing the articles, I kicked off with one simple project in 2008 and then it just went on and on. I never stopped. Apart from writing articles what I do most of my time is watching Hollywood movies, this gives me energy and strength to move on with the life. We need distraction and relaxation of two hours after working the whole day, isn't it true? If you are coping with everything so much easily you might be have a high level of stamina or maybe you are very optimistic and are able to maintain the balance between the personal and business life. I am sending you a PM right away. Let's talk in person.

It doesn't take that long to become a "good" copywriter; but it takes your entire life to become a great, successful copywriter.

A good copywriter talks about their ability to write. A successful copywriter is always writing. Just forget about your fears and force yourself to produce content. Wasting time thinking about "this" or "that" isn't getting you any closer to your next payday and that's ultimately why you are doing what you do, right?

    Just keep writing.

hello! first of all i must congratulate you for the fruit full 3 years of your, because i can assume what hurdles you had faced to get on this stage as me myself is trying to be a good copywriter from previous 3 to 4 months, so i am on initial stages of it. and being on this stage i will not give you any opinion but will definately agree with Marit. she writen absolutely true "it takes your entire life to become a great, successful copywriter"

If you can write about your specialist subject at speed and create an article perfectly the first time you bash it out, then you're a great copywriter.
    Fast and First Time Perfect
Because that's what your clients expect from you. It also allows you to charge more for big jobs ;)
