    Hi

I have a website which has been online for about 7 weeks now - how long does it take for your ranking to increase on the search engines, once you have done the directory submission and SEO thing?

    Thanks

I've had page rank increase within a couple of weeks using link exchanges like linkmetro and gotlinks

This is too broad a question. It depends on the niche your site is in (lots of competition?) mainly. It also depends on the quality of your SEO work, the quality of your content, the quality of the links you have built and are building to this site (etc.).

At least with google pagerank I hear it's updated about once every season, in which time it updates over the course of a few weeks. So it could take some time before you really start to see results.

SERP updates very often. Mine just experienced a drop to second page...

You should be able to see more of this details in your Google Sitemap account.

How can you do this? Basically just paying for links from high ranking pr sites?

    Cheers,

    Josh

Before you go on buying into the pagerank craze: consider this: a higher pr isn't as relevant for your rankings as it used to be. Get links from related sites - that are authorities in your subject area. That will get you ranked in google faster then getting random high PR links will.

it really depends on what SEO activity you did for your site. The other factor is how competitive is the keyword. For easy rank keyword with right SEO, it normally takes few weeks.

It's calculated everyday, meaning updates everyday.
Toolbar and public view PR updates around every 3 months.

The PR is updating 4 times a year. It means every 3 months. The next update must be in the end of July i think.....
