How long does it take for you to appear in Google?

I just setup my adwords account and so far my website isn't appearing in the searches. Some of the phrases I bid on have less than 10 advertisers so I know it can't be for that reason.

usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour. Also be sure you are not restricting your budgt to tight and also make sure you are bidding high enough. $0.10 bids in competitive industries are sure to never see the light of day.

Even if there are under 10 advertisers for the phrase or keyword?

I just got one click and it costed $.55 which is kind of steep for me. Any way to reduce your cost per click? BTW I'm using the "starter edition".

if its a 1st time account, it will be a while till you see and CPC reduction. Probably about 3 months to be paying about 50% of what your paying now for the same position.

What position did you come in for that click? If you came in a high position 1 - 3, try lowering to a more comfortable price.

Since Google shows your web address at the bottom of the ad, will you receive a lot of visitors who type in your web address instead of clicking on the ad?

No, why would anyone bother. The only people who do stuff like that are other webmasters being ethical about not clicking on colleagues/rivals ads. (Plus, the web address doesn't have to exactly match the actual url - i.e if you have a long url you can shorten it.)

I just brought my CPC setting down to $.20. Will my ad show less now?

Most probably. But it depends on many factors, not only on the price. You could try to increase your quality score.

How do you increase your quality score? After I brought down my CPC my ad hasn't received an impressions or clicks. Some of these keywords have under 10 bidders and my ad still isn't showing.
