How do I know it wasn't reviewed and rejected? Because back when I submitted we were allowed to ask the status of the submission on the resource-zone forum. I submitted and waited the required 6 months to ask for my status. I was told it had not been reviewed yet. Waited the required 6 months to ask again. Again Iwas told that it had not been reviewed, oh and yes the wait time is being increased to 12 months. Waited the 12 months, was told it had not been reviewed, and oh, by the way, we will no longer be taking status questions on the forum. During my ordeal, I was also informed that the catagory may not have an editor. May not? Or the editor may have multiple catagories and has just not reviewed that catagory recently. Recently? as in the last 2 years. My guess is my catagories editor is a competitor. Just my guess. And, by the way, the site is very relevant and has great content. Ranks #1 on Google, MSN, and Yahoo for the desired keywords. Just FYI the site is www.sprocketnetworks.com. I didn't post the URl since I didn't want to be seen spamming or link mongering. How's that for a 6th sense?
if your site is alredy #1 why do you care about DMOZ? it is not as if you are going to get any traffic form it, just spam
Minstrel, The catagory I submitted to was: Regional/North_America/United_States/Texas/Metro_Areas/Dallas-Fort_Worth/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ Ivan, You are correct. I do not really care about my DMOZ listing anymore. Now it's more of a joke. But I feel it's my duty as a member of the search marketing community to point out the failings of any directory who's results are taken into account by major search engines. My hope is that search results are not based on biased and/or out-dated material. It is a noble idea to have an index edited by hand, that actually has the editors physically look at the site. And I truly sympathize with the poor overworked volunteer editors. But the effort is a failed one. At least at this point. If there were more editors, or if they were actually paid for their time... who knows. Just my 2 cents.
I think a better category would be http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_.../Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ since you only have offices in Dallas. I would recommend that you suggest your site one more time.
