As per my experience with google adsense, approval process of any typical website varies from days to months. Approval process typically goes like this.

- You have to complete the Google Adsense application process and submit it. The moment you submit your application form you may have to sign in your adsense account.

- Google adsense requires you to copy the code from adsense homepage and paste into your website HTML. This is important step since Google may not be able to review your application before you complete this step.

- Google will review your complete website within few days and email you with application status.

 

So, perhaps you could come over to Google's own adsense help groups and explain to all those that who have been waiting 2-3 weeks that it only takes "within few days"

 

2 day aprox they take for checking and approving your account.

Romania, 27 days to be approved
Germany 3 days to be approved
USA 2 days to be approved

I will make my website soon hence above comments are very useful for me, Adsense will take time depends on the country and region where you located. once activated your account from Adsense. Do some practice about content. Post content every day till your website get rich content. Make sure content should be lengthy and long to achieve your keywords as soon as possible

There is no set timescale no matter what country you are from.

You say USA, 2 days ... please come over to Google's own AdSense help forum and explain to all those from the USA that are waitingg longer than 2 days that it only takes 2 days. Epic Fail.

 

Long story short, it takes as much as your website's worth. If you haven't been rejected yet, be proud (at some level) as you haven't violated any of their basic terms, but that doesn't mean you they should automatically be interested to let you in. From my past experiences, if you do not get approved right away, it is a sign you need to improve either content and/or traffic - once that changes, Google will (in most of the cases, not all) answer.
